October 2009 Music

Posted by – October 23, 2009

So every payday I make it a point to purchase a couple new releases that I haven’t heard or owned before. Some are from artists that I already know, some are new to me. To ensure that I don’t end up being a corporate social media robot on this blog (as much as I love my job), I’m going to start balancing out my blogging with some of the music I’ve been listening to. I’d love to hear what you are listening to as well so comments are encouraged. Alright, enough of the intro paragraph. Below are a couple recent purchases I’ve made that I’d recommend.

I’m in a band. We’re called Zed. Here’s a video of us playing at the Brit in Cupertino, CA. I’m on drums. Fun was had. Check out the band website at zedisded.com or find us on Facebook at zedisded.com/facebook.

Photos From “The Mint” In San Francisco

Posted by – April 7, 2009

Ok…I’m really freakin’ late in posting these photos…I got to go to a private party for Wolfgang’s Vault in San Francisco, CA. WV is basically this amazing archive of music industry schtuff from vinyl to tapes to old rock posters for old shows dating back decades. Some really amazing stuff….down UNDER the party on the bottom floor is this old set of bank vaults that are really amazing. The hallway just went on for days. A lot of the old doors were still in tact.

It was interesting too because I started walking down the stairs and it just felt ‘heavy’ down there…I think just from all the history and all the human activity that had been down there over the years. There were some really amazing rooms down there. Anyway…enough of my blabbing. I’ll post some photos from the shoot below and then a link to the full set on Flickr….it was a fun place for sure. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Music, Great Weather, Family Reunion

Posted by – February 4, 2009

The weather in Santa Cruz has been phenominal lately. I’m a little scared cause I’m convinced a drought will happen for our county this summer and we’re gonna have to do some wacky hippy water rationing thing where we all shower in the mountains with buckets of water and live in some commune but it’s all good. I’m thankful for so many things right now…my children, my home, close friends, art and music. Life is uneasy at times but it’s a blessing to be able to even walk to earth for the most part.

I’m heading down to Southern California with my 3 sons to attend a family reunion. I can’t wait to hang out with my brother again. We’re getting closer as we get older and I’m really enjoying his company. His wife is amazing and was like a sister to me the day we met. My mom is a total champ and has been overly accomodating with providing us a place to sleep etc. Should be awesome. I’ll be taking a ton of pictures when I’m down there so stay tuned for that onslaught. :0)

I’ve been working on a bunch of music lately. I started a new accoustic project with a friend of mine and it’s going really great. I’ve been inspired to write a lot of tunes lately and can’t wait to hit the local coffee shop circuit to test out the songs and see what the response is. I’m also in a new rock band called Zed that I’m playing drums for. Our sound is along the lines of Clutch/Zeppelin with a heavier twist. I’m in it with my bros Pete and Mark from my previous and better known in San Jose, CA project Stitch, as well as a new close friend Greg Lopez. Our sound is gonna be fun to try out in the local clubs and I can’t wait. I shot some photos of the inside of our band rehearsal space yesterday. Posted some below. Enjoy….

The Colour Revolt

Found a video of a really great band I met in Philly at the Download Festival. I took photos of them at a meet and greet with music fans as well as some live shots. Here’s a couple pics I took plus the video. I HIGHLY recommend this band. They have a really great sound and use lots of vintage gear. I talked for a long time with the bass player and he was super cool and mellow. It’s always refreshing to meet bands that are makin’ it and are still humble and cool. Enjoy…
